The Lawrenceville School Visit Wycombe Abbey

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from The Lawrenceville School, a boarding school in New Jersey, USA. The visiting group comprised two members of staff and six pupils. This visit was an enriching experience for both institutions, fostering collaboration and the exchange of knowledge in the areas of digital education.
During their visit, the pupils from The Lawrenceville School attended Mathematics and Physics lessons alongside their Lower Sixth counterparts at Wycombe Abbey. This provided an excellent opportunity for the pupils to engage in academic discussions and share their perspectives on various topics.
In addition to the classroom activities, there were insightful presentations delivered by the Director of Digital Learning, Mr Doherty, and the Head of Computer Science, Mr Wong. Mr Doherty focused on Wycombe Abbey’s approach to Artificial Intelligence and the School’s Digital Strategy, while Mr Wong spoke about the rigor of the Computer Science Curriculum. These presentations highlighted the latest advancements in digital education and the integration of technology in the learning process.
The staff members from The Lawrenceville School participated in an academic committee meeting where they engaged in discussions on curriculum development, teaching methodologies, and collaborative projects relating to Artificial Intelligence. The Lawrenceville pupils have been involved in a range of pupil lead AI projects, many of which have directly helped members of their school community.
The visit also featured an evening event where pupils from both schools presented projects they had been working on in the field of AI. The presentations showcased the pupils’ creativity, technical skills, and passion for AI. It was inspiring to see the innovative solutions and ideas that the pupils had developed. The event concluded with a networking session, allowing pupils and staff to exchange ideas and build connections.
The visit from The Lawrenceville School to Wycombe Abbey was a resounding success. It strengthened the bond between the two schools and provided valuable learning experiences for both pupils and staff. We look forward to future collaborations and continued exchanges of knowledge and expertise.
