Welcome Seniors

The Wycombe Abbey Seniors network is formed of over 4000 former pupils and staff across the globe. Pupils and alumnae enjoy a close link with the School and are regularly invited to return to continue contributing to School life.

The Association of Seniors was inaugurated in Miss Dove’s drawing room in June 1898. Nine girls, the first to leave the school, united to promote the cause of the United Girls’ Schools Mission. As numbers increased, the Association became more businesslike. Leavers were divided into groups of 30, one of whom was appointed Secretary. Her duty was to keep in touch with her circle and collect annual subscriptions and members’ news for publication in the Gazette (now Seniors’ Supplement). On becoming a Senior, each girl signed the Roll and received her Seniors’ brooch, a copy of the prayers said each week at School and a reminder of the pledge to corporate service, which was an essential condition of membership.

A significant change came early in the 21st century: in May 2011, the Seniors resolved to dissolve the Association in its form as a separately registered charity and since then, Seniors’ activities are managed by the School. The annual Seniors’ Day is held on Dove Day in the spring and Carol Service at Christmas, and there are regional and decade gathering that take place throughout the year.

All Seniors are warmly invited to sign up to the Seniors Connect website for easy communication and networking.
