Welcome to Wendover
Located at the top of the Wycombe Abbey site, Cloister, Shelburne and Wendover make up Daws Hill, originally an 18th century hunting lodge, home to the Carrington family when they sold the main Abbey building to the School. Within the collection of buildings making up Daws Hill, we have a number of music practice rooms, a large dining room, kitchen areas and communal living rooms. There is a path that joins the Main School to Daws Hill, and when it snows, staff have been known to ski down on occasions or we have been snowed in at the top! The three Houses plan activities together and support one another as we have a lot of communal areas so you can be in and out of each other’s Houses frequently. House staff all live within the buildings too so they are never far away when you need them. Daws Hill is a very special community.
Wendover has around 50 pupils from age 12 to 17. The youngest four-year groups have year group studies and share dorms, and the oldest pupils have study bedrooms and their own sitting room. Wendover pupils work hard, are fierce on the sports pitch and have a lot of fun. We strive for the pupils to see the House as a place to relax and form relationships that go beyond friendships so that Wendover becomes your second family. Whether it’s baking brownies, playing bingo or mindfulness colouring, there is plenty to do in the evenings during the week and we always look forward to a House Outing at the end of each term which may be to the cinema, laser quest, bowling or a meal out. These events are always great fun as you get the opportunity to spend time with friends across the year groups as part of the Wendover family.
